We are looking for 8 singers to join Emilia Martensson's Jazz Vocal Ensemble to perform at The Ljubljana Jazz Festival on the 1st of July. Each participant will be asked to send in one recording or video clip of them singing together with their application. Deadline 9th of June.

This 3 day long workshop/ensemble project will be held during the Ljubljana Jazz Festival with the aim to perform 6 new pieces at the end of the week at one of the stages at The Ljubljana Jazz Festival. The workshop will be held by Emilia Martensson (-Vocalist of the year-2016 at The Parliamentary Jazz Awards, London).

The course is aimed at singers on an intermediate-advanced level and the main focus of the workshop/project will be improvisation and harmony singing. The pieces aimed to be performed at the end of the week will include some of Emilia's self penned compositions along with her own vocal arrangements of Jazz Standards as well as some more contemporary repertoire. The aim is also to perform a couple of pieces purely from improvising together as a group.

The workshops will aslo contain work on vocal technique, performance technique, interpretation, aural awareness and on how to work together as an ensemble.

Emilia was professional, creative and incredibly supportive of all her students on the course, getting to know each of us individually and developing us in our own direction.
