Flock is an all-star dream team, or rather a supergroup, from Britain’s new jazz scene. It is a powerful alliance between some of UK’s finest musicians: a prominent drummer and percussionist of the younger generation, Sarathy Korwar (with impressive releases on a major independent record label, Ninja Tune), Bex Burch (whose 2023 debut solo outing was released by International Anthem), Danalogue (known as the cosmic keyboardist with The Comet Is Coming), Tamar Osborn (who leads the Collocutor project and is a member of a Dele Sosimi ensemble) and Al MacSween (member of Kefaya, etc.). Wow. In 2024, the collective released their sophomore album, titled simply Flock II, on the renowned Strut label. If their debut was recorded in the space of a single session, the follow-up took more time and is a semi-improvised undertaking, that ranges from intense to hypnotic, from insistent rhythmic textures to ambient.
