Jazz in Dialogue: Inheriting Her Voice – with all the beauty and burdens it carries

Jazz in Dialogue: Inheriting Her Voice – with all the beauty and burdens it carries

Thursday, 2 July at 17.30 – Dvorana Alme Karlin
Free entry till full capacity (no ticket needed).
Between concerts, we will also take time for conversation. Jason Olaine, Vice President, Programming at Jazz at Lincoln Center and a Grammy-winning producer, will be joined by Melissa Aldana and Sun-Mi Hong to discuss how the experiences, traditions and stories of previous generations are reflected in the work of today’s jazz musicians. The conversation will explore the development of artistic expression, what we inherit from those who came before us, and what we hope to pass on to future generations.
The conversation will also touch on artistic legacy, creative freedom, the responsibilities that come with visibility, and the many ways in which a voice can become a space for both personal and social expression. A chance to hear directly from some of the musicians who are helping shape the landscape of contemporary jazz today.
