The Kavčič/Debelić Quartet is a fresh jazz combo that brings together four musicians of the younger generation. All alumni of the Conservatory of Music and Ballet in Ljubljana, Luka, Aljoša and Tijan started working together on different projects. At LJF Aljoša and Luka will premiere their own compositions, which the Kavčič/Debelić Quartet will record later this year. The group’s sound is rooted in contemporary jazz, with an emphasis on classically inspired harmony, freer form and elements of groove derived from mainstream jazz. The music is open to innovation, while maintaining respect for tradition – the quartet explores how complex structures can coexist with rhythmic clarity and flashes of inspiration.
