An experimental band from Lucerne, Sc’ööf have developed a sonic language of their very own, at once close to radical and wholly adventurous. With an arsenal of two saxophones, drums, guitar and electronic gadgets, the quartet transplants traditional jazz instruments into an avant-garde setting. Following a refreshing, sometimes brazen and vibrantly disjointed approach, Sc’ööf build bridges between jazz and various popular music styles such as dub, breakbeat, hip-hop, noise and punk. Atonal melodies intertwine with complex rhythms to create repetitive and intense leaps and shifts of ideas and styles.
