The 2025 issue begins with a double bill of two virtuosos representing two generations of jazz idiom. The first is Cécile McLorin Salvant – a singer and cross-genre curator tracing connections between blues, jazz, and chanson – who won three Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Vocal Album. The second artist is the bassist, vocalist and poet Meshell Ndegeocello, a seasoned veteran, and an important force in shaping the American (pop) music scene. In Ljubljana, she will present her latest project, “No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin”, an in-depth tribute marking the centennial of the birth of James Baldwin.
