{"id":2938,"date":"2025-04-21T14:44:51","date_gmt":"2025-04-21T13:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ljubljanajazz.si\/koncert\/asher-gamedze-quartet\/"},"modified":"2025-05-23T09:50:29","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T08:50:29","slug":"asher-gamedze-quartet","status":"publish","type":"tribe_events","link":"https:\/\/ljubljanajazz.si\/en\/koncert\/asher-gamedze-quartet\/","title":{"rendered":"Asher Gamedze Quartet"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p><strong>Asher Gamedze Quartet <\/strong>(ZA, VB)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Asher Gamedze<\/strong>,\u00a0 drums; <strong>Byron Wallen<\/strong>, trumpet; <strong>Pat Cleaver<\/strong>, bass; <strong>Piero Bittolo Bon<\/strong>, saxophone<\/p>\n<p>South African drummer and percussionist Asher Gamedze has made his mark with a potent mixture of rich local musical traditions, free improvisation and contemporary jazz idioms laced with radical social and political thought.<\/p>\n<p>A self-taught musician with an impressive roster of collaborators (among others, Angel Bat Dawid and Nduduz Makhathini), Gamedze&#8217;s watershed year on his journey of tapping, pounding and general noisemaking was 2020, when his critically acclaimed debut album, <em>Dialectic Soul<\/em>, came out.
